Our statutory training is varied and includes general Health and Safety to Equality, Diversity, Human Rights, and safeguarding of vulnerable people. Our training prepares staff for any care situation that may arise. This includes basic life support training, manual handling, fire safety, infection prevention, and control.

Tana Care Mandatory training goes beyond the minimum legal requirement covered by the Statutory training. We have an in-house (Deprivation of Liberty) DOLS assessor and trainer who offers our staff extra training to develop their understanding of DOLs and the Mental Capacity Act and Assessments.

Our bespoke training is tailored to meeting the assessed needs of each service user. At Tana Care, we recognize that each service user is unique. We also recognize that assessed needs evolve, hence the need for continued learning as an ongoing process. Our bespoke training continues to evolve to meet the changing needs of our service users and developing research.

At Tana Care, we understand that autism is a life-long developmental disability that affects how people communicate and interact with those around them. Our training and support approach is person-centered and tailored to respond to how autism affects each person. The approach aims at ensuring that our service users are afforded consistent, individualised, and quality support.

This is a technique that aims at encouraging communication and building better relationships. This training aims at teaching the basics and fundamentals of communication, for example, turn-taking, non-verbal communication such as hand squeezing or tapping rhythms, sharing personal space, use of eye contact, facial and physical contact. All these help people with learning difficulties relate better with those around them and enjoy each other's social relationships. It also helps develop social and cognitive abilities as well as emotional wellbeing.

At Tana Care, we understand that people with learning disabilities struggle with communication skills. A service user's frustration at not being understood can lead to challenging behaviours which can be harmful to themselves, others, or cause damage to property. Through the Positive Behaviour Support model, our staff are trained to understand the underlying behaviour, triggers, and employ strategies to prevent escalation of the behaviour.
